Okay, talk about returning the favour.
Jet Li, an ex-Chinese, ex-United States, and currently naturalised Singaporean citizen, who starred in movies in his prime, has congratulated President Halimah Yacob on her presidency.
Li's Facebook page shared a congratulatory post from his website on Friday, Sept. 15:
The Facebook caption for the post said:
In a recent article by Her World Singapore, a lifestyle publisher, the newly appointed president of Singapore, Halimah Yacob , is a fan of mine. I am deeply flattered and honored. Madame President, I wish you all the success in your new post. #jetli
Strange
Li, 54, calling the Her World Singapore article "recent" is just weird.
Debunking him, The Straits Times reported that the article in Her World was taken from a old 2006 report originally published in ST.
President Halimah had said then that her favourite movie was Li's Fearless.

Refers to himself in third person
Even stranger still: Li's habit of referring to himself in third-person, à la a kung fu master.
Via the congratulatory post from Li's website:
Jet Li is honored that Halimah Yacob is a fan of his and congratulates her on becoming the 8th president of Singapore. He also wishes her success in her new post.
He was born in Beijing and took up US citizenship and had stayed in America for 20 years, before renouncing it.
Li became a Singapore citizen in 2009.
