NDP2017 just came to a close.

No matter what you thought of the parade, the drones were a definite crowd pleaser.

Unfortunately, for one man, piloting a drone didn't end so well for him.

Arrested for flying drone near NDP

According to Channel NewsAsia, a 53-year-old has been arrested for flying a drone near the venue of the National Day Parade on Aug. 9 at 3pm.

The area where the parade took place had been designated a Special Event Area.

Drones prohibited for 24 hours

This means that for 24 hours, the flying of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) like drones were prohibited under the Public Order Act, unless the pilot has a permit.

The man was arrested at Marina Barrage.

If found guilty, he may be fined up to S$20,000 or jailed for 12 months.

This arrest comes just days after the police demonstrated how an arrest would take place in the event an unauthorised drone pilot was discovered, which, fortunately or unfortunately, came in handy for this case.

Oops.
