Singapasar at the National Design Centre

August 4, 4pm to 9pm; August 5 & 6, 11am to 8pm

Head down to the National Design Centre this weekend if you're looking for items to parade around with on National Day, to show everyone how patriotic you are.

This pasar malam, which technically is open before malam (night) on some days, will feature locally designed and crafted products -- including furniture, clothes, accessories and food -- that aim to tell the Singapore story.

We are Singapasar, we are Singapasareans.

Sundown Festival 2017 at Labrador Park

August 5, from 4pm

Photo from Sundown Festival's Facebook page

This is a music festival that aims to celebrate Asian music and culture.

But unlike previous editions, which featured artists from all over Asia, this year's festival will showcase only homegrown talents, such as Derrick Hoh, FARRAGO, and Jack & Rai.

Because why support our neighbours when we can just ownself support ownself?

Movie Under the Stars at Dempsey Hill

August 6, 4pm to 11pm

Pirates are not allowed at this event.

Organised by a group of students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Advertising & Public Relations course, this free outdoor film screening aims to fight piracy by spreading the word about it.

There will also be free snacks, games, and a lucky draw.

Legally free movies and free snacks to fight consuming quality content for free.

What's not to love?

River Safari's icon Canola, the largest manatee within the Amazon Flooded Forest, is turning three!

She loves belly rubs and high fibre biscuits, and while you probably wouldn't be able to offer her either, you can still head down to River Safari to congratulate and wave at her from afar if you're a decent human being.

Wildlife Reserves Singapore is also offering a 52 per cent discount off admission fees for the Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park till August 31, so you can make it a day of waving at animals.
