AETOS Officer Amelia Lee is a brave soul.

She rescued a monitor lizard with her bare hands after it got stuck on a motorcycle.

Following the rescue, a photo was taken of her holding up the lizard at Woodlands Checkpoint.

On Monday, Aug. 28, Facebook user Aydan Aiman Lee told the story of how Lee rescued the lizard.

But he also said that she was "in trouble", as photographs are not allowed to be taken within Woodlands Checkpoint.

However, Lee has updated his Facebook post on Wednesday, Aug. 30, to share that the officer would not be in trouble after all.

In case you can't see the post, here's what his update says:

***UPDATE:

Thank you all for the support garnered with regards to my sister. After rounds of questioning and statement-taking, Aetos Corp Communications has reached out to her to assist and de-escalate the situation. She has been rest-assured that no action would be taken against her for the commendable feat. Without the support of netizens, the situation could have turned out otherwise for her. Once again, a million thank you from Officer Amelia, myself and our family!

PS: As an animal welfare activist, the fate of the monitor lizard by large remains in question. However, Aetos has no affiliation with the release of the monitor lizard.***

Minister Shanmugam shared the photo

The photo was also shared by Minister of Home Affairs, and Law, K. Shanmugam.

The Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority has also confirmed with Mothership.sg that the update provided by Lee in his original Facebook post is accurate.

The ICA's Facebook page also shared Shanmugam's post, with an update of their own:

"Wild and Freed

Our vigilant officers have spotted an "illegal immigrant" - a monitor lizard! After assessing that it is of no threat to security, it has been released back to the wild."

May our security officers be just as vigilant as Lee was, whether their quarries are on two legs or four.
