You can free fall with the SAF Red Lions in this 360-degree VR trailer

Don't watch if you get vertigo, but it's really cool.

As part of the lead up to the 2017 National Day Parade (NDP), NDPeeps has released three 360-degree, Virtual Reality (VR) videos featuring the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Red Lions, Naval Divers, and the Army’s Armoured Engineer Vehicle.

These trailers are a prelude to the full length 360-degree VR segments which will be shown during the NDP live stream come August.

This year's NDP will be live streamed to audiences at home, with a few pre-recorded segments stitched into the actual live stream. These segments are:

  • The Red Lions skydiving
  • Naval Divers jumping off the Chinook
  • The Army’s Armoured Engineer Vehicle performing an obstacle-removal mission.
  • The Navy’s Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats in a high speed chase
  • The SAF and Home Team counter-terrorism segment
  • The Fireworks finale

If you happen to be one of the folks who didn't get NDP tickets, or just want to show off your new VR set to your friends, make sure that you have a strong and stable connection, with bandwidth speeds of at least 20mbps. Viewers in congested areas (such as Marina Bay) might also experience lower video resolutions.
