Passenger pranks Grab driver to do pick-up from Lim Chu Kang cemetery at 2am, pretends to be ghost

Rude.

The sharing economy definitely has its kinks.

Passengers opting to pay by cash on the Grab app can, for example, cancel a booking without paying any fees (they are given two penalty-free cancellations every seven days).

This was exactly what one passenger did -- most likely out of malicious intent and/or boredom.

A Grab driver, Chisa Lim, received a booking at about 2am from a male passenger named Fahmi.

The pick-up location was Pusara Abadi Muslim Cemetery, which is in Lim Chu Kang.

Fahmi's destination was set to Changi, and the fare was tabulated to be S$31.

However, when Lim arrived to pick the passenger, it turned out to be a prank.

Read the exchange between Lim and Fahmi below:

In short, Fahmi had made a false booking from a cemetery, then pretended to be a ghost in the backseat and cancelled the trip when Lim arrived to pick him up.

The "free trip" that Lim mentioned in the messages was part of an incentive system that rewards drivers for completing 50 trips, but it was later mentioned in the comments that this trip did not count towards the goal as it was cancelled.

Other users on Facebook have provided possible solutions to deal with passengers like Fahmi:
