Channel 8 actually put up an eight-minute trailer online for their upcoming drama series When Duty Calls.
The 20-episode big-budget bonanza is filled with actors and actresses in camouflage doing shouty scenes in the midst of a lot of combat vehicles and on Pulau Senang, all in the name of commemorating 50 years of National Service this year, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Home Affairs, that undoubtedly provided the logistical support so that equipment suited for war can be flaunted in times of peace.

For those of you who no longer watch television because that is so 1990s, just watch the trailer because that is everything you need to know about the drama series.
In short, based on the trailer, it can be gleaned that:
Pierre Png is the typical asswipe, Romeo Tan is clearly anal retentive, Desmond Tan has to eat a raw fish to win the next best actor award, Paige Chua is a major distraction because she is just being herself, Shane Pow has to shave his head for real à la G.I. Jane, and Zheng Geping is 100 percent sex because he is a real muscle head.
And with the Army, Navy and Air Force all making an appearance throughout the series, this is Ah Boys To Men multiplied by a factor of one thousand, minus the product placements.
When Duty Calls premieres July 31, 9pm on Channel 8.
