Irrefutable proof why yellow is the new “in” colour right now in Singapore

Forget everything you know.

It’s halfway through 2017, and today I am here to tell you why yellow is the most important thing right now. I have gathered four pieces of compelling evidence to prove my point, and as you will find out shortly, there is no way this can be refuted because whatever you read on the Internet is real.

This article will commence shortly and without warning. For maximum effect. Let’s begin.

#1: Look at this report.

It says that after car-sharing, bike-sharing is a big deal. The news is reported by TODAY, a mainstream newspaper, so you know it’s totally not fake news.

But now that we’ve got to that, let’s examine the colours of the existing bike fleet in Singapore. Two out of three bike share operators choose to go with colours with the colour yellow.

The remaining one chose orange – which is almost yellow.

What does that tell you? Yes. Yellow is the next big thing. Also because yellow is a cheerful colour that is bright enough to spot on the roads. And since fluorescent colours stand out under UV light, you will be as prominent as a highlighted paragraph in a history textbook.

#2: Now, let’s take a step back to April.

What happened? Sure, a bunch of questionable people here and here got our attention on social media, but the highlight for you was undeniably Coldplay’s concert in Singapore. As you probably know, Coldplay is one of the world’s most popular musicians.

And guess what? They played ‘Yellow’ one of their most popular singles, much to the joy of their enchanted fans.

Think about this. Coldplay could have chosen any other colour as a title. Blue. Green. Black. They chose yellow. And it launched their careers. Coincidence? I doubt it.

According to the Chris Martin, he named it after Yellow Pages which is the nearest thing to him. Serious. It could jolly well be called FHM. Think about it.

#3: Also, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Live Action Remake hit Singapore in April.

You caught it because of Emma Watson playing Belle. Here’s a fun fact. In the 1991 BATB, Belle wore a yellow dress.

Why yellow? Initially the studio wanted Belle to don a pink dress because, according to them, pink is a colour every girl likes (how scientific). But the creative folks wanted her to be unique, so they gave her a yellow dress to match her character.

16 years later, Disney decided that Emma Watson should once again don a yellow dress for the role. What does that tell us? Yellow always works. It’s the order of the day. Everyday.

If you’ve not convinced at the moment, we don’t blame you. After all, these seem to be just three coincidences.

But here’s some news that will change your mind.

In conjunction with the release of the widely anticipated Despicable Me 3, McDonald’s will be releasing a brand new menu.

That’s right. This is us right now.

Get ready your best Minion voice and scream “BANANA!” because Minions have taken over McDonald’s from June to mid-July and have replaced ALL vanilla soft serve ice cream menu items with banana-flavoured soft serve!

Get ready to drool:

Minion theme on point with the Banana cones

The Strawberry and Hot Fudge Sundaes have also gone bananas

Yes even the McFlurry has gone to the yellow side

For those who get brain freeze easily or have sensitive teeth, don’t worry. McDonald’s hasn’t left you in the lurch.

Also making its way to restaurants are: Banana Pie (YAAAASSS), all-new Minion Potatoes, and Spicy Chicken McNuggets (but don’t worry guys, there will still be regular nuggets if you choose to stick to your guns).

Whoever made the Minion Potatoes would have made Gru proud.

As for Spicy Chicken McNuggets and the Banana Pie, these two need no introduction. Possibly Singapore’s favourite seasonal comfort food, we can’t help but wonder why they’re not permanent items on the menu already.

We tried the banana pie last year and could not help but agree with McDonald's that it was ‘simply sedap’.

The same Spicy Chicken McNuggets last year. We foresee lots of perspiration all around Singapore in the upcoming weeks. And it’s not because of the weather.
