Tuas West Extension and Tuas depot and will be opening on Jun. 18, 2017.
The extension consists of four new stations along the East West (green) Line after Joo Koon, namely Gul Circle, Tuas Crescent, Tuas West Road, and Tuas Link.
The newest train depot, on the other hand, will be the largest in Singapore and can house up to 60 six-car trains. In comparison, Changi depot holds 35 trains at maximum capacity. Tuas depot also has more advanced facilities for maintaining and washing the trains.
Here's a peek at the depot before it officially opens:
The 25m high ceiling allows for good ventilation.
An updated underfloor tandem wheel lathe (basically a wheel machining system) works on two sets of wheels at once, while other depots can only machine one wheelset at a time.
Fun fact: our trains are washed daily. Harvested rainwater and NEWater are used in the process, and the water is further recycled after every wash.

The combined length of all bored piles (a type of building foundation used to support heavy vertical loads) is about 494km, which is equivalent to about 2.5 times of Singapore’s coast line.
The amount of concrete used for this project can fill 53 Olympic-sized pools.
An open house for the Tuas West Extension on the East West (Green) Line will take place on Jun. 16, 12pm - 8pm. There will be free rides the along four new stations as well as games and activities.
The extension is estimate to benefit 100,000 commuters daily.
