Nurses and doctors from Farrer Park Hospital assisted in rescuing a driver who crashed his car as he suffered a stroke while behind the wheel.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 23, evening, outside a restaurant that was opposite Connexion, the integrated complex incorporating the private hospital, a five star hotel and medical centre located at Farrer Park MRT station.
According to the hospital's Facebook post, one of the staff nurse was going home from work when he witnessed a woman reviving the driver who had crashed his vehicle into the railing.
As the hospital conducts exercises regularly to prepare for such emergencies should they take place in the vicinity, they arrived on the scene within five minutes of being activated.
The patient was stuck in the driver’s seat as the door on his side was sealed shut against the railing and he was vomiting and foaming at the mouth.
A total of five nurses and two doctors attended to the accident scene to stabilise the injured man until the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived.
The SCDF then focused on extracting the man from his seat as medical experts were treating him.
According to the post, the driver had suffered a stroke, but was fortunate to have slowed down his car at the road junction to avoid a major collusion.
