Durian pizzas are a thing, available in S'pore at Tino's Pizza Café

Has pizza as we know it come undone?

The debate on whether pineapples should be on pizza or not has raged on for a long time.

Some say the sweetness goes well with pizza, while others are certain that fruit should never have a place on the Italian delicacy.

There is a new challenger to that debate, however, because durian has entered the fray and on your pizza tray.

Yes. We're talking about durian pizza.

You might be thinking, "that's an April's Fool joke, right?"

Sorry to burst your bubble -- it's something you can legitimately order at Tino's Pizza Café Singapore, as it has been made available at their Tiong Bahru Plaza and Centrepoint outlets.

You can choose from either Mao Shan Wang (S$21.90) and D24(S$16.90) flavours for your durian pizza, which is, in durian-speak, two of the best varieties of the fruit there is.

For some of us, it sounds like something straight out of a horror movie.

According to Instagrammers, however, it's delicious enough to be more than just palatable.

Even funky lawyer and generally cool dude Josephus Tan approves of it.

Durian? Pizza? Criminal Lawyer? What'a going on here?!? Am super privileged to be invited to the media launch of @tinospizzacafesg this afternoon to check out their brand new creation - Durian Pizza! To be exact, it's a "D24" pizza and a "Mao Shan Wang (MSW)" pizza coupled with "Peanut Butter Fries with Bacon Bits"!!! ? Admittedly, the thought of "durian fused into pizza" did not excite me at all cos' it seemed super weird. To me, it's like eating a plate of chicken rice toppled with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It's really like chalk and cheese in my impression. So I was quick to judge and already killed off this idea in my mind as another "eat, smile, and later go eat a traditional wanton mee" episode! ?But man I was dead wrong! The durian pizzas and peanut butter fries actually tasted fantastic! Special mention must be given to the MSW pizza cos' it simply melted in my mouth and blew my brains out! I'm a durian lover and trust me, I'm super anal about the quality of this "King of Fruits" and its respective modifications. I think Tino's Pizza Cafe got this right - it's the first in Singapore, and definitely one that will steal the hearts of fellow durian lovers! Good job fellas! ??P.S: Special thanks to @popstarmedia for the invitation! ☺️

But of course, the final verdict would depend on your own tastebuds.
