It's always interesting to see Singapore from a different perspective, whenever we have the opportunity.
Thanks to drones and the photographing technology accompanying them (as well as photographers who are trained and licensed in drone flying), we now enjoy views of key landmarks we never had access to in the past.
One of them is Joel Chia, a final-year occupational therapy student doing his degree studies in the UK.
The well-travelled 25-year-old grew up in Australia, and has taken drone photographs starting from about a year ago in many places he has been to, both in the Southeast Asian region and Europe.
"I came across a really stunning travel video on youtube which had segments of aerial videography! That perspective shown in the video really blew my mind away and i was so hooked! I immediately went to read up more on this technology and soon enough, got myself one of the top drones in the market!"
Chia still does this as a hobby and passion, and enjoys taking aerial photographs of various parts of Singapore, wherever he feels a place is worth picturing from the top.
See if you can guess where these pictures he took are from:
1. We'll start with an easy one.
Got it?
It's St Andrew's Cathedral.
2. This should also be fairly recognisable:
Okay?
It's the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
3. Now how about this?
Figured it out yet?
It's the Sentosa Cove.
4. Here's where it gets tricky:
Take a stab...
It's part of the East Coast Parkway highway.
5. And here's another one from the East:
Any guesses?
This, says Chia, was taken in Bedok South.
6. Now, how about this?
Here's a hint: it's not a port.
According to Chia, this is somewhere near Pandan Loop.
7. Now try guessing this one:
Yes, this is in Singapore.
It is, says Chia, an exercise area in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10.
Nice.
8. See if you can recognise this place:
Give up?
It's the Esplanade courtyard and outdoor theatre.
Not bad eh.
