Kiss 92 DJs accused of being racist during morning radio show

Political correctness gone mad? Or further justification for a minority president?

Update, Jan. 11, 2017, 11.05pm: Kiss 92 has apologised.

Kiss 92's morning radio show Maddy, Jason & Arnold in the Morning has finally stirred up a hornet's nest.

Since late-2012, the show hosted by Maddy Barber, Jason Johnson and Arnold Gay has operated sensation-free -- until Jan. 11, 2017.

The three DJs were on air talking about a recent study by SingHealth Polyclinics, which found that 44 percent of Singaporeans do not get enough sleep on weekdays.

The study had reported finding that six in 10 Chinese had sufficient sleep, compared with about four in 10 Malays and Indians.

And this was what the DJs said, according to listeners who tuned in:

They expressed SURPRISE that Chinese people got more sleep, and that Malays and Indians don't get enough sleep. THEN they talk about how Malays and Indians work less, and go out and party but Chinese people had to send their kids to school and go to work early.

"You know why Malays and Indians get less sleep? It's because they've been raised to have fun, party-"

That segment apparently had DJ Maddy Barber bringing up the study as a talking point, and co-host Jason Johnson responding. Arnold Gay abstained.

Kiss 92 is under Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Radio.

Maddy, Jason & Arnold in the Morning is presented by Esso, according to the station's website.

We will be reaching out to Kiss 92 for comment and will update accordingly when they respond.
