Even as heavy rain washed out a good part of Chinese New Year festivities the past few days, the momentary sunshine after the rain saw a double rainbow appear on Monday, Jan. 30.
Photos of the phenomenon over central Singapore and the Central Business District area were shared online on the third day of Chinese New Year.
A double rainbow is formed when light reflects inside raindrops twice.
However, the second rainbow would appear fainter, but still visible to the naked eye.
This Chinese New Year in 2017 has seen some uncharacteristic wet weather due to a monsoon surge affecting the surrounding region.
The last time a double rainbow was seen in Singapore was on Sept. 30, 2016.
