Much has changed on our island since the 1980s.
Recently, a 1983 video recording of a journey through the Duxton area was shared via The Merlion on Facebook.
Captured in the video are scenes of Duxton that is very different from the same area in the present day.
Old school lorry
The video starts off on Duxton Hill with a shot of an old school lorry with a headboard that we hardly see anymore these days.
Travelling through the Duxton area that is no longer accessible to traffic
Here's the view of the lane where the camera's vehicle would've been travelling down from. Today, this lane in Duxton Hill is closed to traffic.

Notice this row of shophouses that the camera approaches.

The camera's vehicle goes round a corner, where the shophouses on the right have been demolished to make way for a carpark.
