Channel NewsAsia reported that SingPost said most residents welcome advertising material such as promotional offers, furniture catalogues and discounts from food establishments.

SingPost allows residents to opt out of receiving such material in their mail -- only 0.8 per cent of 1.2 million households have opted out. To opt out, residents can apply online or call SingPost.

Households which have opted out would have an orange "No Admail" sticker pasted on the back of their letterbox covers.

Letterboxes at HDB estates have an anti-junk mail lock which prevents junk mail from being slotted into them. SingPost postmen have access to unlock letterboxes to deliver advertising material.

It seems that Netizens largely do not agree that advertising material is welcomed:
