The police have identified and are investigating a group of youths who were recorded on video physically assaulting a boy at a staircase landing in Singapore.

The 26-second video clip, which was first uploaded by another person, shows at least six young men in the stairwell of what appears to be an HDB apartment block, with three of them surrounding a boy wearing a grey and black T-shirt.

One of the boys was wearing a shirt that had the word "SAINTS" emblazoned across its back. A second jumped onto the boy, while prone on the floor, while holding a floorball stick.

It's short enough to watch in full here, but be warned — the footage is violent and disturbing:

The clip was subsequently taken down by the first user, and re-uploaded by a second on Thursday evening.

In response to media queries, a police spokesperson said the following:

“The Police have identified the youths involved in the video and they are currently under police investigation. The Police take a stern view of lawless and violent public behaviour which could threaten the sense of safety and security in the community. Any person who resorts to violence and riotous behaviour will be dealt with severely, in accordance with the law.”

Their statement did not share information about the well-being of the boy at the receiving end of the attacks, however.

We'll share any updates we receive with you as soon as we get them.
