KK Women's and Children's Hospital dresses up premature babies as superheroes because they so tough

Everyday they defy the odds.

KK Women's and Children's Hospital has dressed up babies born prematurely as superheroes.

This is to celebrate World Prematurity Day on Nov. 17 this year.

The superhero theme is to celebrate the resilience of these babies who are beating the odds to continue to grow up healthy and complications-free after being born weeks or months before their full gestation period were up.

Some of the babies featured were born six to seven months into the pregnancy, which is some two to three months shy of the full nine-month gestation period.

Two of the babies were warded in hospital for 200 days or more, with one of them having stayed in hospital for 216 days.

This was what the hospital wrote for their post:

Preemies are babies born prematurely, often having to struggle to stay alive. Most of these preemies stay at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Nursery for weeks to months before they are ready to leave the hospital to be at home with their families.

World Prematurity Day is celebrated on 17 November every year, a day when we honour all our Superhero preemies, for their admirable strength in their journeys of survival and growth. Together with their parents, we proudly present some of our KKH Superhero preemies! Check out their Superhero traits!
