This stall selling a S$24.90 bowl of beehoon proves S'poreans will pay for quality hawker food

Lobster FTW.

One particular stereotype of the hawker centre that might be unfairly perpetuated is that the cost of the dishes have to subscribe to a certain price range.

Even the recent Michelin star inductee, Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle, saw the focus fixated on its relatively cheap prices.

Well, one store that's hoping to buck the trend of set hawker prices is Sumo Big Prawn Noodle.

It is a noodle store located at Blk 628 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 #01-7.

It was set up just over a month ago by a few young hawkers.

Food

Like its name suggests, the prawns served here are rather large.

Their two signature dishes seems to be H20 sized grilled prawns with cheese, and the lobster beehoon.

Their lobster beehoon usually cost around S$18.90, but due to a shortage of Asian lobsters, the stall actually had to order Californian lobsters.

The higher priced lobster subsequently increased their prices for dishes using the new lobster to rise to S$24.90.

While the word association between "S$24.90" and "hawker food" might be causing some to have a brain aneurysm, hold your horses.

Because, this is what you are going to get.

And the consistent queues for the stall appears to validate the prices the stall sets.
