Chicken Supremo is a Halal-Western food stall at the Jurong West Street 41 wet market.
In operation since 1991, many have flocked to the stall for their tasty fare, which includes their chicken chop, spring chicken and cheese fries, amongst many other favourites by customers.
They also have a host of (more than 70) glowing reviews on their Facebook page lauding their fare. Here's just a selection of them:
That's really saying something for a stall tucked away all the way in Jurong West.
Now, if you're learning about this amazing stall for the first time, you might be thinking, "I'm having this for dinner!". Here's where we have to drop a sad truth bomb: it's closed. Indefinitely.
If you recall, there was a recent fire that broke out at the wet market and the coffee shop, which effectively burnt down much of the place — Chicken Supremo being one of the victims.
This is what's left of Chicken Supremo :(
If you haven't heard, the coffeeshop and wet market at Block 493 Jurong West St 41 caught fire at around 2.30AM.
We will be closed indefinitely and will update this page when there are any news of reopening or relocation.
Do stay tuned.
The reactions came thick and fast, and the emotion is palpable:
The stall's owners are keeping their earnest fans updated, though:
"Dear Valued Customers
Sorry for the lack of updates as it has been a busy few days for us since the fateful October 11 morning fire. We are terribly grateful for all the care and concern that you have shown to us over the past 3 days.
As some of you have heard through the news, HDB is in the midst of ensuring that the coffee shop is structurally safe before any repairing works can start.
While the investigations and checks are ongoing, we assure all of you that we are working very hard to bring back what everyone has missed and loved.
Please bear with us the time from now until the time when we come back. We will provide updates through this page now and then so do stay tuned till the day we are able to bring you the chicken chops that you've missed.
With <3
Chicken Supremo."
Chicken Supremo isn't the only popular stall affected by the fire. There was an uncooked yong tau foo stall that had been running for almost 20 years, and each piece was sold at 10 cents. There was also Noorlin Seafood at Block 494's coffeeshop, where, in happier times, served about 200 customers daily.
We'll update you when we know if they'll be turning up again somewhere soon.
