"You have more fans in Singapore than in Manchester."
This used to be an insult thrown at Manchester United fans by Manchester City fans to demonstrate how "local" Manchester City fans are.
But it appears that the Singapore-Man Utd bond is not just a one-way street.
We probably know that tycoon Peter Lim, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs are business partners, as they co-own Hotel Football, a 133-room property located near to Old Trafford.
Last night, these two Manchester United legends were in Singapore for a quiet reunion.
Neville, the 41-year-old Man Utd legendary right-back, had a taste of rainy Singapore in what appeared to be across the street of Hotel Sofitel So Singapore.
According to The Straits Times, former Valencia manager Neville last visited the little Red Dot two months ago to meet his former boss Lim.
Japanese dinner at Great World City
Ryan Giggs, winger and former Man Utd assistant manager, was also in town to catch up with Neville over a Japanese dinner at Great World City.
Both took photos with Naoki Tsuzuki, the Master Chef of Kuriya Dining.
We learnt from our previous visit to Kuriya that David Beckham also dines at the restaurant whenever he is in Singapore.
And that includes Mrs Beckham too.
Still thinking why you found Kuriya to be such a familiar name?
This is also where the late Lee Kuan Yew celebrated his 91st birthday.
Without Beckham of course.
