The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has officially met with a fiery demise.

Hours after Samsung released a press statement on Oct. 11, urging customers with an original Galaxy Note 7 or replacement Galaxy Note 7 to "power down and stop using the device", Samsung confirmed that they will "permanently discontinue" the production and sale of the smartphone.

The move was certainly not unexpected, amid the buildup of fear and concern over the "explosive" nature of the device.

Before the big announcement that the Note 7 would be discontinued, techies and professionals had their eyes trained on Samsung for their next move.

But if you're just an ordinary person feeling real confused over the whole mess, you can always count on netizens to voice out the real concerns that ordinary people have, and to draw real-life instances to help us better understand and deal with the whole issue.

They explained the effect of Samsung's crisis on their competitors:

They became the voice of all our concerns:

And of course, with the upcoming U.S. presidential elections dominating the minds of people worldwide, the Samsung crisis was used as an analogy to facilitate discussion about the presidential candidates.

Others questioned the *real* purpose of the Note 7:

Some came up realistic suggestions for Samsung customers to continue using their Note 7, since there are still hard-core fans out there who refuse to give the device up:

And reminded us that sometimes, all you need is creativity.

To really embrace the heat of the situation.

And it seems Twitter user @JonyIveParody's creativity strikes a chord with Samsung -- the company is apparently sending out "return kits" to Note 7 users that come with a thermally-insulated box and safety gloves.

Despite heightened anticipation and rave reviews for the device that was just released two months ago, overheating, user safety and fire concerns plagued the Note 7 after incidents of the phone exploding was reported.

Thousands of customers in Singapore exchanged their defective Note 7 devices for replacement sets last month, as part of Samsung's global recall of the handsets.

The supposedly safe replacement sets were found to overheat as well, reigniting concerns among users.

The discontinuation of the device comes after several reports of replacement sets catching fire emerged.

In case you were wondering, Note 7 users in Singapore can head down to the Samsung service centre at Westgate to loan a mobile device.

So long, Note 7.
