The traditional Singapore versus Malaysia feud has officially spilled into the aviation realm.
This was after it was revealed by safety officials on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, that a AirAsia X plane bound for Malaysia ended up in Melbourne, Australia instead.
The Airbus A330-300 left Sydney en route to Kuala Lumpur on March 10 last year, but air traffic controllers went on alert after it began flying in the wrong direction.
Apparently, the pilot had entered the wrong longitudinal position for the aircraft.
In a bit of guerrilla marketing, Scoot seized the chance to talk smack by leaving a comment on the Facebook post of the Today article about the news:

The feud is not surprising considering both airlines are fighting for the same low-cost flights pie.
Scoot is a Singaporean low-cost long-haul airline owned by Singapore Airlines.
AirAsia is a Malaysian low-cost airline headquartered near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
However, it was AirAsia that rewarded all Olympic Gold Medallists with free flights for life in the aftermath of Rio 2016, which includes Joseph Schooling from Singapore.
