A waterspout was seen over Kembangan on Aug. 6, 2016 at around 4pm.
The photo of the phenomenon was captured by a commuter on the MRT train:
Turns out, the waterspout was making its way across the waters at East Coast Park.
Here's the video:
Waterspouts are fairly common sights in Singapore. These vortices are rotating columns of air that occur over water bodies.
Most are weak rather than tornadic in nature and they usually appear as funnel-shaped clouds.
They are frequently seen off Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in the eastern part of Singapore.
Waterspouts were also previously spotted in Pasir Ris, East Coast Park, Khatib, Woodlands, Kranji, Serangoon, Tuas, Jurong Island and Pulau Ubin.
