Singapore Tourism Board has perfected the clapback and prove that they sure can put "Singapore" before "Tourism" as they issued this clapback at BuzzFeed:
This is the gif they posted on their Facebook page with the caption, "Hey BuzzFeed UK, what's good? #VisitSingapore":
This response from YourSingapore Facebook page -- the digital face of Singapore tourism -- was after BuzzFeed UK ex-senior editor Luke Bailey went on a spree a few days ago lambasting what people around the world put in their sandwiches.
Included in his judgemental list was something that is familiar to Singaporeans:
This led to an uproar from people here as well as others in the region, who regard the humble street-bought ice cream sandwich a time-honoured delicacy and the best thing since sliced bread (like literally, because it is sliced bread used to hold on to a slab of ice cream inside).
Following a massive uproar from their international audience, BuzzFeed subsequently realised they fouled up and replaced the ice cream sandwich with something else:
Oh, and we mentioned "BuzzFeed UK ex-senior editor Luke Bailey" in the one of the paragraphs above because he apparently got demoted to just "Staff" when his designation got changed following the uproar:
This is what his profile says on the offending article now.
The universe has since come back full circle and is once again at peace.
Update, Aug. 27, 2016, 5.50pm:
Just got reminded of this picture which seems appropriate:
