Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be returning to the stage to finish up his National Day Rally 2016 speech in English. Both Deputy Prime Ministers Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Teo Chee Hean have said that PM Lee is alright and that he would complete his speech. On PM Lee's condition, DPM Tharman said that PM Lee was "feeling a little faint" and that "he is in good shape" and "this was a little blip."

According to sources, the speech will be shortened.
The prime minister took ill at about 9.18pm and had to stop delivering his speech in English. Initial announcements said the rally will be put on hold for 30 minutes.
Audience members at the ITE College Central looked on in shock earlier when PM Lee stopped his speech halfway as he appeared unwell and stumbled.
Audience members, including Cabinet ministers and PM Lee’s wife, rushed to the stage to assist the prime minister.
