PM Lee's National Day Rally this year name-dropped several companies, which is no doubt good publicity for them. We round up the companies which received free product placements on national television.

1. Luzerne.

Started in 2004, Luzerne designs bespoke tableware for high ends clients, including the world's leading hotels and restaurants. Mentioned by PM Lee as an example of local companies which upgrade themselves and expand globally.

2. Fragrance Bak Kwa

Fragrance is one of the more famous local bak kwa production companies. Started in 1969, the company is almost as old as Singapore herself. Fragrance partly automated their process and even started selling bak kwa online. The guests at the rally were also treated to free bak kwa. Ultimate endorsement.

3. Uber and Grab

PM Lee mentioned Uber and Grab as examples of how technology and globalisation are disrupting the economy. In his speech, he advises Singaporeans to adapt to such new technology as they become the new normal.

4. Ascent Solutions

Highlighted as an example of how technology is helping companies with digital solutions in an increasingly digital world, Ascent Solutions developed a special tracking device to help secure containers while travelling long distances.

5. Hope Technik

PM Lee mentioned this local SME as an example of local companies which create opportunities for itself by focusing on niche areas. Interestingly Hope Technik constructs autonomous robots which are used in hospitals, warehouses, and plants. The company also produces vehicles for the SCDF.

6. Zimplistic

Zimplistic created the world's first automated chapati an roti maker - the Rotimatic. It was developed by a husband and wife team as part of the Launchpad initiative which helps local start ups with space and funding. Guests also got to taste the chapati which came out of the Rotimaker at the reception!

7. Niantic Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO also came up in PM Lee's teaser for the National Day Rally. Because sometimes, thats the only way to get your attention isn't it?
