In a referendum on Thursday, June 23, 2016, the United Kingdom (UK) voted 52 percent to 48 percent to leave the European Union (EU) after 43 years.
This has sent the British Pound plunging more than 10 per cent against the US dollar to below the $.133 mark, its weakest in 30 years.

The Straits Times reported off AFP that long queues were seen at the money changers at Change Alley. When interviewed, many said that they were planning for holidays in the UK and/or have children studying there.
