There has been a rash of attempted scams recently, from the fake DHL scam calls, to calls made by scammers posing as the Singapore Police Force.
Now, some are resorting to text conversations in order to fleece personal information and/ or money out of unsuspecting victims.
Aaron Tan was a target of one of the text scams, with a phone number claiming to be the "Bank of China" contacting Tan to rectify a potentially false transaction from his account.
What could have been yet another cautionary tale, soon turned into a trolling masterclass -- thanks to Aaron Tan's quick wit and the super-heroics of Batman bin Suparman.
The Trolling
The conversation started innocently enough, albeit with less than ideal grammar, as a representative of the "Bank of China" informed Tan of a possible unauthorised transaction on his account.
Then Aaron Tan, troller of scams, got to work, methodically deconstructing "Bank of China".
That's one way to get back at scammers.
