[UPDATE on April 20 at 9:30pm: Adding updates from the SCDF on the fire being extinguished]
Some 150 firefighters from the Singapore Civil Defence Force spent five hours putting out a massive fire at Tembusu Road on Jurong Island on Wednesday.
Jurong Island is an artificial island located to the southwest of the main island of Singapore, off Jurong Industrial Estate.
The fire, which we now know started from a 40m-wide circular tank of light crude oil, was so intense that it made the tank fold and buckle, according to the statement posted as an update on the SCDF's Facebook page:
The fire was first reported at 3pm, and was eventually extinguished at 7:45pm by both the SCDF and the company's emergency response team.
One member from the latter group wasa sent to National University Hospital for heat exhaustion:
And look at the resources they put into it:
38 vehicles. Whut.
Earlier in the afternoon, members of the public took to Facebook with videos of the fire as well:
In this video, the eye-witnesses can be heard discussing if they should run for their lives.
Another member of the public sent Mothership.sg two videos showing the scene of the blaze.
In one of the videos, water jets can be seen dousing the flames.
