How long have I been asleep? Or did someone sprinkle cafe seeds all over the island, added water and redirected some sunshine over here because I woke up this morning, boom, one dozen new cafes.
Singapore is already home to several hundred cafes and the numbers just keep growing because optimism in the midst of an excessively brutal F&B scene will see them through, right?
Nonetheless, here are 12 cafes in Singapore that are so new, you'd make hipsters jealous when you patronise them now:
1. Shrove Tuesday
Block 94 Lorong 4 Toa Payoh #01-32, Singapore 310094
This place serves waffles that have been described by Internet scribes as "fragrant" and "crispy".
I mean, how, otherwise, are waffles supposed to taste?
2. Hatter Street
212 Hougang Street 21, #01-333, Singapore 530212
There is no way to know if this place is good or not because online reviewers have said that the waffles served here taste "fluffy" and "crispy".
That really is as good as saying nothing at all.
Singapore is seriously in need of food reviewers who can describe food as good or not as good as coming home one day and finding Fiona Xie lying in your bed.
That is the language people understand.
3. Elffin & Elffin
29 Haji Lane, Singapore 189222
This place has two floors and they serve cakes and coffee. And there's a guy who would sing you songs while you eat.
4. Stateland Cafe
30 Bali Lane, Singapore 189866
One of those places that serves you Eggs Benedict.
5. One Man Coffee
215R Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574349
All-day-brunch menu. Pretty sure they serve eggs as well. Is that really ang ku kueh?
6. Strictly Pastry

Strictly, food.
7. Happy 3 Bites Cafe

Dogs running wild here because it's an NEA-approved pets cafe.
8. Woodshed 204
204 Rangoon Road, Singapore 218451
This cafe in Little India is near the current coolest hood in Singapore: Jalan Besar. But not close enough.
9. OZ Specialty Coffee
11 Sin Ming Road #01-13 Thomson V Two, Singapore 595629
Cake. Waffles. Coffee. Cake. Waffles. Coffee. This will never end.
10. My Awesome Cafe
202 Telok Ayer, Singapore 068630
This is located in the yuppie-pulling district of Telok Ayer. And the newest, most hipster-approved cafe of them all.
11. Assembly Coffee
26 Evans Road, Singapore 259367
You might have heard of the Third Wave Feminist Movement? Well, this place is bringing you the Third Wave Coffee Movement. Whatever that means.
12. Crossings Cafe
55 Waterloo Street #01-01, Singapore 187954
This place hires disadvantaged youth. You can eat and feel bad that you killed your diet but feel good at the same time as you're contributing back to society.
