Author Neil Humphreys, 39, first made the news a few years ago when he wrote about his humorous encounters in heartland Singapore as an "ang moh".
Humphreys is one busy "ang moh" in Singapore this year.
Earlier in March, he was the host of a TV documentary series about Singapore ("Return to a Sexy Island") on Channel NewsAsia. One of the documentary highlights was Humphreys gamely trying out the dangerous task of cleaning the Marina Bay Sands building.
These days, Humphreys has ventured into equally treacherous territory - the literary world of children's books and the real world of screaming children. He has published three children's books so far.
Neil tells Mothership.sg how humourous our local comedians are, and whether he prefers local food or British pub grub.
1. If you have Peter Lim's money, which football club will you buy? Which local football club will you buy?
I'd love Peter Lim to buy West Ham but he seems far too intelligent for that.
Which S-League club should Peter buy? All of them. He could buy the league for pocket change and build a national project to be proud of. Failing that, go with Geylang. Foreign players love geylang nightlife and Bedok stadium is near where I live.

2. England vs Singapore: British pub grub or S'poreans street food?
That's a joke, right? That's like saying a Ford or a Rolls Royce. I don't mind pub grub, but being a teetotal vegetarian, it's like trying to sell snow in a desert.
I don't really have a use for it. But still, Brit pub grub v Singapore street fare? Not really a fair fight is it?

3. Which poses a bigger challenge to you? Writing a book about S'poreans or a children's bk?
Authenticity is the key for both. Research and plenty of travel are vital for The Singapore books.
All non-fiction titles should be as accurate as possible, obviously, but when it's a foreigner writing about the quirks and foibles of Singapore, even more so - especially when, In some quarters, foreigners are about as popular as a fart in a space suit.

4. If you have only one Christmas wish, will it be England winning the World Cup or Neil Humphreys winning the Man Booker prize?
Neil Humphreys winning the Booker Prize! England's won the World Cup already.
5. Who is your favourite Singaporean funny person?
It would be unfair to single out one. I've loved Kumar's comedic anarchy for years. If anything, he should go further! I like as many buttons to be pushed as possible in a society!
I think Hossan Leong commands a live audience effortlessly. I know hard that can be, especially in Singapore. In the theatre, Adrian Pang has great comedic timing. And believe it or not, I used to think Moses Lim had a natural, funny charm on Under One Roof.
And as a creator of comedy characters, I think Chua En Lai's work on The Noose is very underrated. That sounds strange considering the show has been showered with accolades, but there is a tendency with shows of this nature to be rather broad - and a bit lame - in their comedy. The Noose needs to be broad too, but I feel some of En Lai's subtle, satirical nuances get lost in the comedic broad strokes. As a character actor, I think he's right up there, a really funny Singapore actor.
