This is uncalled for.

With the advent of apps, getting to chat and meet randos have been facilitated to no end.

While it's all fun and games that can lead to marriage, or Netflix and chill, it appears getting racially abused by someone you don't know barely 15 minutes into the conversation is now also a thing.

Tinder match unleashes racial abuse

This was what happened to a 24-year-old lawyer from Delhi when he was in Singapore recently and used his Tinder app.

According to a tip-off, this was what the woman Tinder match said to the lawyer, who has requested not to be named for this article:

Called him ugly and faking it

Said he has an odour

Said she is repulsed by him

Although the phrasing of sentences by "Lynette" is not entirely grammatical and can be difficult to read, there was no doubt she was hurling racist insults in the chat.

Could be troll account

A Singaporean friend of the lawyer, who read snippets of the conversation, is of the opinion that the Tinder profile might be a troll account set up to unleash abuse on unsuspecting users who matched with her.

The display picture of Lynette shows a woman who appears to be of Asian descent.

For the uninitiated, Tinder users can only chat with someone on the app when both parties swiped right, indicating an interest in the other person's profile.

So, to swipe right on a person's profile and then insult the match, is sketchy.

To add insult to insult, the Lynette woman proceeded to report the lawyer and this led to his Tinder account being blocked.

Distressed but unfazed by the incident, the lawyer told Mothership: "Coming from India, we see this everyday, it's just that we're not on the receiving end. So, I guess I can only say that it strengthens my resolve to work against such behaviours."

"I asked a couple of other Indian women here on Tinder if this was normal. They said they wouldn't be surprised if this was not a troll account. But yeah, we must resist all temptations to generalise."

It is not known for how long he will be blocked from accessing the app.
