A Traffic Police officer has died while performing traffic patrol duties, according to a police statement.

The 29-year old Staff Sergeant Nadzrie Bin Matin met with an accident near Kinta Road on June 1, at about 10.40am.

He was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The details of how the accident occurred are still unclear and investigations are ongoing.

The 52-year-old driver of the vehicle involved has been arrested for a negligent act causing death.

The police are also appealing to the public to avoid circulating or spreading any videos or images regarding the accident.

This is out of the respect and privacy of Nadzrie's family.

It is understood that an image of the officer being resuscitated has made it onto social media and chat groups.

Nadzrie had been with the Police Force since 2009, and Commissioner of Police Hoong Wee Teck described him as a "dedicated" and "well-liked" officer.
