Just because of $28.

Chaos ensued in the wee hours of Saturday morning (May 27) at Heng Long Teochew Porridge, along Upper Serangoon Road.

Reportedly, three men and a woman had gotten upset after receiving a bill totalling $28 for their food order, which included steamed pomfret and several side dishes.

Allegedly drunk and enraged, they started to wreck havoc around the restaurant.

You can see this in the video below from Shin Min Daily News:

As seen in the video, customers were frightened off as the trio of men started to act violently, breaking the glass displays with wooden chairs, and hurling cutlery and porridge to the ground.

The internet's got plenty to say too, from those who felt second-hand embarrassment for their family, to those who saw it as some sort of dramatic entertainment fodder.

Translation : The current generation is so unbecoming. The action [carried out by these men] would have been those of gang members who were unable to receive protection money, but now it's become a response for not wanting to pay for their food. If their parents are still well and alive, they will not be able to face their ancestors.

According to The Straits Times, the police were alerted to a case of mischief at 3.44am. The suspects are currently at large, as they left before the arrival of the police.

The eatery has resumed business as of noon on the same day.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
