By now you would've read that a Nissan exploded in a multi-storey car park in Bukit Batok on Wednesday (Apr. 26) evening.

Videos of the aftermath of the incident was circulated widely with one person, believed to be the driver of the car, being shown badly burnt but conscious sitting in the vicinity. Butane gas canisters were reportedly found at the scene.

Here's where the plot thickens.

Car was reported missing the morning of the explosion

At around 9.50 a.m. Alex Soo shared the above photograph in a Facebook group - Uber/Grab SG Partners - and asked for assistance in locating his car. Soo said that he had rented the car out but the renter had disappeared.

When asked for more information about the renter, Soo shared this:

Soo then shared that he paid a visit to Dwight's house, but what he found was a photo-copied police report which stated that Dwight has not been staying at the house for the past five years and had falsely used this address. The flat owner applied for a protection order against Dwight:

Up to this point, the car still hasn't been found, but more information on Dwight was being shared, including a 2015 news report of his conviction for cheating:

Who is Dwight?

There was not much detail of Dwight except for the news report. When one netizen theorised that Dwight was homeless and thus needed butane canisters to cook food, someone stepped in to say that Dwight was not homeless:

Missing car and exploded car one and the same

After photographs and a YouTube video of the blown up car in Bukit Batok went viral, it became clear quite quickly that Soo's missing car had been found, albeit in pieces:

Dwight apparently in debt

In an interview with Channel 8 News, Soo shared that he had rented the car to Dwight on Apr. 17. When he wanted to collect payment from Dwight, Dwight avoided meeting up with him. When Soo called Dwight on one occasion, Soo said that another person who claims to be a creditor to Dwight picked up the phone.

The "creditor" said that Dwight owes him $6,800 and was supposed to use the car as a private hire car to earn money to repay his debt. According to Soo however, Dwight rented the car out instead to get an income.

The "creditor" also confiscated Dwight's phone according to Soo.

Butane and suicide

According to Channel 8 News, when the 'creditor' confiscated Dwight's phone, it was found that the phone was used to search for ways to commit suicide using butane gas canisters.

According to sources, Dwight is currently still under observation at the Singapore General Hospital.

As for Soo, it is not known how he will be compensated for the loss of his car:
