This police statement is most likely in response to a video put up on Facebook on April 5 that showed a group of youngsters (pictured above) asking for money from boys dressed in secondary school uniforms just outside Punggol MRT station.

The caption accompanying the video said:

“Please share this around to help aware your friends or child. In this video at punggol interchange, you can see 1 of the student want to walk away from this people but 1 of them pull him back. This people will say that they are policemen and will force you to “donate” $10 if not you can’t leave. It happen to 1 of my friends recently like this student.”

However, the video has since been taken down on April 6.

The police statement has also since been shared by the Punggol 21 Facebook page:
