Childbearing, to put it mildly, can be a harrowing experience.

But for Kean Ho and his wife, the experience was a little more extraordinary than what they would expect - and it culminated in the delivery of their baby boy right in their own home, assisted by three Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers.

In an interview with Ho, he shared that it started when his wife woke him up due to labour pains. Ho initially wanted to drive to the hospital, but his wife was unable to move.

That was when his sister called for an ambulance. While the family was waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the officers called to check if they needed any instructions for on-the-spot delivery.

Upon their arrival, it was decided that Ho's wife had to deliver immediately.

Ho notes that officer-in-charge Kitshan remained calm while instructing her medics, Shafiq Rhymia and Samo Iqbal.

According to Ho, the entire team was also remarkably professional, and managed to safely deliver the baby boy at approximately 8.25 am. Ho's wife and his baby were well taken care of during and after the process, including the delivery of the placenta.

Congratulations to Ho and his family and kudos to the SCDF officers for their professionalism!
