Equal parts shady and epicurean, the Geylang area is Singapore's red light district that is also often associated with supper. Besides the famed frog porridge stalls, there are also other options such as dim sum, tze char, chinese food, and local grub.

With this guide, you can now navigate the supper spots like a pro (and if anyone looks at you suspiciously, refer them to this article).

1. Wan Dou Sek

Probably one of the more famous ones on this list, Wen Dao Shi or more affectionately referred to as Wan Dou Sek (because it sounds like its address 126 Sims Ave) serves a good variety of steamed and fried dim sum. Since their serving sizes are not exactly small, we recommend going with a group of friends.

2. Mongkok Dim Sum

This place also sells a decent variety of dim sum, although not as much as Wan Dou Sek. They do, however, make up for it with local food like mee goreng and tze char dishes.

3. Eminent Frog Porridge

For a period of time, frog porridge was all the rage among young Singaporeans craving for supper, and Eminent Frog Porridge was, well, particularly eminent among them, especially for their buy two get one free promotion. If frog isn't your thing, they serve tze char dishes as well.

4. Lion City Frog Porridge

Another popular option in the area, although it may be on the pricier side. Nonetheless, expect to wait for a bit before actually tucking in.

5. Yong He Eating House

If the combination of beancurd and dough fritters is your Achilles heel, this 24h eatery is ever-present to satiate your cravings, even at ungodly hours of the night.

If not, there are other Chinese nibbles (handy menu for reference):

6. BBQ Box

Basically Chinese-styled BBQ with a good variety of skewers, including meat, vegetables, and even grilled bread. Some recommend it with beer.

However, reviews are mixed, so proceed at your own risk.

7. Geylang Claypot Rice

Their claypot dishes are painstakingly slow-cooked over charcoal, so pre-orders are advised or be prepared to wait. Either way, we're guessing it is worth the trouble, judging by the amount of good reviews online.

8. The Skewer Bar

Another option for late night BBQ, except this place is evidently less skewed towards the Chinese side of things.

If the branch at Changi Village is too inaccessible for you, then the one near Paya Lebar MRT should do the trick. Expect a variety of local nosh, including Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western food.

Even if we can get enough of tze char, JB Ah Meng would still make it to this list.

Their San Low Bee Hoon, unremarkable as it might appear, is considered one of their signature dishes, with many praising the noodle for its charred and crisp texture. Other favourites include their White Pepper Crab and Salted Egg Prawn Ball.

Boasting the much-coveted wok hei factor in their Penang style noodles, Penang Seafood Restaurant often attracts the crowd in droves.

Recommendations include Lala Hokkien Mee and Salted Egg Sotong.

Famous for the charred tones and wok hei of his Beef Kway Teoh, this stall has been around for more than a decade as a testament to its quality.

Although portions have allegedly shrunk, many loyal patrons still visit to relive the old times.

13. G7 Sinma Live

Another forerunner in the frog porridge scene in Geylang, G7 Sinma Live is popular for its 3+2 frog promotion. Another unique selling point about this place is that they allow your frogs to be done two ways, so you can have both gong bao and ginger onion frogs in the same seating.

Oh they have Chili Crabs here too.
