Boyfriends & exes put up for sale & rental on Carousell

Putting the 'arouse' in Carousell.

There are many ways these days to find out if you've got game, besides putting yourself up for rental on Facebook as a convenient Chinese New Year decoy.

One, get on Tinder and rake up the number of matches.

Two, go offline to a club or pub and see if you get metaphorically swiped right or have a drink poured over your head or down your pants.

Three, be put up on Carousell for a fee and see if there any takers.

Hence, here's a newfangled business proposition: This festive season, girlfriends and exasperated ex-girlfriends who are more than done with putting up with their boyfriends in real life, can opt to put their other-halves up for sale or rental on the mobile app.

Oh wait. You mean it has already been done before?

1. Renting out your ex to get validation when there are no takers

We don't know how something that's not yours can be rented, but not for the want of trying.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

2. Offering your boyfriend for sale at such a low cost to prove a point

If someone takes up the offer, it can be seen as an insult to the guy.

If no one takes up the offer, it can also be seen as an insult to the guy.

He must have done something.

3. Humblebragging about your other half

Not all women are about vindictiveness. Some, sweet and adorable ones, express their love in other ways.

Such as putting a price tag on their beloved.

Seen in this light, this exercise of selling and renting people on an online marketplace is actually priceless.

Because posting on Carousell is like posting on Facebook, but with price tags attached.
