Photos show extent of carnage along AYE after Mercedes allegedly drove against traffic

The fatal accident claimed at least one life.

Update, Dec. 19. 2.20pm: Video of Mercedes driving against traffic on AYE emerges. A 53-year-old male car driver has been arrested for causing death by rash act.

A horrific multiple-vehicle accident occurred on Monday morning, Dec. 19, along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Tuas after a Mercedes allegedly drove against traffic.

A man was trapped in the driver’s seat and had to be extricated by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel using hydraulic tools. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a social media post, the Mercedes driver could be seen relatively unscathed from the accident.
