If Singapore is ever going to break new ground in the media scene, the very first sitcom the state broadcaster must sanction would be called, Everybody Loves Tharman.

Because who doesn't?

Our deputy prime minister ushered in this year's Deepavali with a Facebook message that eschewed the usual tried-and-tested pedestrian greetings favoured by other seasoned politicians.

Instead, he put up a post jam-packed with factoids to explain the significance of Garuda, the mythical half-eagle, half-human creature from Hindu legend that can be found all around Asia, as a homage to Singapore's diversity.

Bet you you didn't see that coming, did you?

Warning, reading his following post will make your IQ go up against its will:

If you've heard about "mansplaining" before, this is "Tharmansplaining" for you -- where everything makes sense and your ignorance doesn't matter.

Tharman, the Culture Explainer Guy. Talk about being able to put one and one together.

Even his profile picture and the Garuda image share the same tonal quality.

Amazing.
