Meet Singapore Airlines first class passenger Tan Su-San.

Thanks to Channel NewsAsia reporter Olivia Quay, who got on the Singapore Airlines flight carrying our Olympic Gold champ Joseph Schooling and his mom May Schooling home, we discovered this nice little story of how she gave up her seat for the young man's mother.

Here's them seated side-by-side in Straits Times video on board SQ67:

In a video on Facebook, Tan shares how she ended up giving up her seat to Mrs Schooling:

"Oh, when we arrived in Barcelona, the ground staff came to my group of friends — there were 4 of us — and he smiled and said 'ah, these are the people. You are the ones I've been waiting for', and we thought 'oh dear, what have we done, are we late?'

And he said 'Okay, we have something confidential to tell you.' So we thought, ok.... And basically he said we want Mrs Schooling and Joseph Schooling to be able to sit together and travel together but we don't have enough seats, and asked if one of us would, well, switch seats and be somewhere else, and it was just such a no-brainer.

It was... yeah, of course, they've travelled such a long way and he's our hero, our Olympian champion and this is just part one in his win in his journey — and part two to come home and celebrate, and I think that's going to take up a lot of energy — and it really is without a doubt, it was no contest to say, yeah please, have a good rest!"

Tan then reveals she also had an "ulterior" motive for her own fan moment:

"Absolutely! So it was quid pro quo; I said yes, no problem, but I want to have an autograph, and I want to be a screaming fan (laughs). And I want to have a photo! And of course the rest of my friends were like 'yes yes yes, do it, do it!' But yeah, the big thing was without a doubt for him to have a good rest. It was no great shakes for me."

Thank you for your first-class generosity, Su-San :) it's such a delight to see how our nation celebrates together in so many different ways.
