Singapore's first-ever Olympic Gold medalist Joseph Schooling hit the tarmac early this morning at Changi Airport Terminal 3 following a victorious Rio 2016 outing.

His followers were there as early as 2am to welcome the 21-year-old who was only expected to touchdown at 5.30am.

A crowd of close to a thousand had eventually gathered and when the swimmer finally made his appearance at 6.20 after a prolonged wait, he did not fail to overwhelm.
