The S'pore army soldier who helped carry toddler at NDP preview really looks damn man

He can be made into a mascot.

A photo of a Singapore Armed Forces soldier who helped a mother carry her daughter at the National Day Parade preview on July 23 was uploaded onto Facebook to praise his actions:

This is what the post, which only showed the soldier's back view, said:

This photo was taken by my wife just before NDP preview. She was a bit late and also ended up at the wrong side of the stadium. This kind soldier offered to carry my daughter as it was a long walk to the correct entrance and my wife had to carry some stuff.

This kind of acts should be the ones everyone share on stomp or whatever social media platforms instead of criticising a smelly soldier sitting in the train.

The soldier in question has since been identified by SAF as Lieutenant Tee Chze Hao, Charlie Company 2IC from 5th Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment:

He had offered to help the mother carry her daughter and make the long walk to the correct entrance as it was "a natural thing to do":

During the NDP Preview 1, gates were open to the public at 4pm and LTA Tee was supervising the entrance of spectators in the South Sector. At around 6pm, the seats in his sector were filled and the remaining spectators had to be redirected to another gate in the North Sector. It was then that he met Mr Kenny Leo’s wife who was carrying her daughter and struggling with her bags. Anticipating the difficulties of her long walk over to the other gate, he offered to help and she allowed him to carry her daughter.

For him, it was a natural thing to do. No amount of “standard operating procedures” and training prepares you for interacting with the public. It may be challenging at times, but LTA Tee shares, “doing the job as a representative of the SAF gives me extra motivation to ensure I do the right thing”.

LTA Tee’s battalion, 5 SIR, is involved in packing and distributing the funpacks and spectator management for this year’s NDP, according to this other Facebook post.
