The most recent bank robbery in Holland Village might not have much to go on at this moment, but strangely, this is not the first time that a Standard Chartered branch has been robbed.
In all, StanChart has been robbed three times in Singapore, in 1980, 1990, and now, 2016.
The number of men involved in the robberies have gone down though.
According to archival reports from the Straits Times.
The 1980 robbery saw four men being involved, the 1990 had two men, and this current case seems to have been committed by one man.
1980
The first StanChart robbery was in 1980, where four men entered the Upper Bukit Timah branch.
They fired three shots and wounded two people, escaping with $60,000.
1990
The second incident occurred in 1990 and it involved the British bank again.
This time, two men dressed in black religious robes burst into the Alexandra branch of the bank at around 1.50pm on Feb. 12, 1990.
One of the robbers grabbed a woman customer as hostage and pointed a gun at her head, forcing a woman teller to hand over the money in her counter.
One of the robbers then leapt over the open counter and scooped up $6,520 in cash into a plastic bag he was carrying.
There was another customer in the bank and a total of seven staff on duty at the time.
The two men then forced a taxi driver to give up his vehicle and they escaped in it. The taxi was found 2km away at a car park at Queenstown.
The best part though?
Besides failing to snatch a gun from a woman Cisco guard during the robbery and one of the robbers losing his shoe as they were fleeing, the pair dropped most of their $6,520 loot on the road when they fled in a taxi.
2016
The latest Holland Village robbery is the latest in the series of unfortunate events for StanChart.
Apparently, a capped Caucasian man slipped a piece of paper to the bank teller and took off with an unspecified amount of money.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
Poor StanChart.
