The New York Times (NYT) is one of the most illustrious publications in the world. They have won 117 Pulitzer Prizes over their more than 150-year publication history.
But even the best fall down sometimes, because NYT made the mistake of angering one of the most vocal communities there is: Satay lovers of the world.
Before we proceed to the satay smackdown, it is important to clarify that NYT is indeed aware of satay's existence, having written of the Southeast Asian food earlier this year in April.
Satay fiasco
As pat of their cooking section, NYT recently featured a dish titled "Skewered Chicken with Peanut Sauce" on July 2, 2016.
Which they initially misspelled as Shicken.
Leading to some harmless ribbing from their regular readers.
But, things started to get really intense when some people began noticing similarities between 'Skewered Chicken with Peanut Sauce' and Satay.
With this one tweet perfectly encapsulating the general mood.
