Social media shows the ugly side of Brexit barely 72 hours in

This is depressing.

The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union on Friday June 24. The people who campaigned for the UK to leave framed immigration as a major source of their financial and social problems.

What happens when racists, xenophobes and islamophobes who wanted UK to leave the EU think that 17 million people think the way they do?

They get emboldened.

Sarah Childs took to Facebook to highlight how some people with such tendencies have become overt following the vote.

Childs uploaded an album containing screenshots of comments made on social media platforms. They documented racism and xenophobia in action over the weekend since the vote.

These ones make you lose a little faith in humanity:

brexit xenophobia 10

brexit xenophobia 9

brexit xenophobia 8 brexit xenophobia 7 brexit xenophobia 6 brexit xenophobia 5 brexit xenophobia 4

brexit xenophobia 3 brexit xenophobia 2 brexit xenophobia 1

The full album contains many more screenshots and you can view them here:

What a sad day.
