For some travellers, Airbnb is a website to seek refuge as even decent three-star hotels in some cities can cost an arm and a leg.

However, besides providing viable alternatives to hotels in terms of affordability, within Airbnb lies another spectrum of lodging that are upscale AF.

If you move the price slider all the way to the other end, the results are vastly different from the run-of-the-mill, one-bedroom-with-window default choices.

This is where you can live like a prince for a few thousand dollars a night and host a party for 80 people in your temporary home with a garden, driveway and multiple balconies.

Because say hello to these five palaces that are masquerading as insanely huge AF homes in Singapore:

1. The most expensive Airbnb listing in Singapore: S$4,003 per night

Nestled in Mount Pleasant, this black and white bungalow has been listed for S$4,003 per night. Not sure if the price is there to show off or to keep non-committal individuals out of the picture but one night's booking can subsidise a good part of a month's rent for a not-too-shabby property elsewhere.

The upside to this place apart from huge space and amazing décor? The property is "highly secured", according to the property owner, as the police academy is right beside.

2. Garden Staycation: S$1,381 per night

These guys know their audience on Airbnb as this listing has the best photographs of the property in this list. Reasonably priced at S$1,381, the listing can accommodate up to 12 folks planning a sleepover. The sweetener would be having an innkeeper and housekeeper present on the grounds at all times. Ever wanted to feel like Bruce Wayne, this will be it.

3. For the book lovers: S$1,289 per night

The only place missing from this listing is a fireplace but you'd never find that in a Singaporean home. Decorated with a floor to ceiling bookshelf, it seems almost too much of a pity to actually step out of this house for a minute. This looks like the perfect property for a writer or someone pretentious to lock himself in to complete his latest novel.

4. Top of the mountain: S$1,001 per night

Too many views of the forest from the ground can get boring. This listing situated near Singapore's only other "mountain" (besides Bukit Timah) breaks out over the forest canopy. The kicker is a built-in jacuzzi in the apartment itself which is sadly currently under repair. Breakfast in the clouds? This is the closest bet in Singapore.

5. Night in a museum:S$999 per night

A choice pick for any Asian art lover. Three-storey penthouses are pretty rare in Singapore and every nook and cranny in this apartment looks to be filled with art pieces from around Asia. Included in the price is be a 24-hour butler and housekeeping service that covers all your meals be it breakfast, lunch or dinner.
