Things have gotten rather exciting on National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan's Facebook page.
Mothership.sg first reported on Nov. 11, 2014, about a Facebook posting by the minister on a joint exercise by the police, SCDF and foreign workers to simulate a riot situation.
The posting drew concerns and criticisms from the public for being insensitive, as the protesters appeared to be Indian foreign workers. The Little India riot in December 2013 also involved Indian national workers.
Minister Khaw clarifies
Minister Khaw has since clarified on his Facebook that the exercise was a collaboration with the residents and foreign workers.
He added that such exercises are part of the "many engagement and education sessions conducted by our grassroots and government agencies with foreign workers, regardless of nationality or race".
Past sessions were evidently less dramatic -- Khaw revealed that it included sessions on first aid, dengue prevention and local culture.

Khaw, who was away in China when the exercise was conducted, mentioned that the exercise's intent was "to promote mutual understanding with the local community". It is understood that the Wee Chwee Huat Dormitory currently houses only residents from South Asia.
Channel NewsAsia reported that "SPF and SCDF will continue to conduct similar exercises in other foreign worker dormitories around Singapore".
Does that mean that such future exercises will be more inclusive?
Guess we should not be surprised if we see photos of Chinese, Thai, Bangladeshi, Burmese foreign workers rioting in such exercises in future.
